About
Some BI roles talk about insights.
This one ships them.
You’ll sit inside a lean data team in a large national organisation working across real operational systems that actually matter including aviation, healthcare, defence, retail and resources. Environments where “data issue” can mean anything from a broken dashboard to a client escalation that needs answering now.
This isn’t a reporting factory.
It’s closer to “we need to understand what’s happening and we needed it yesterday.”
You’ll own customer-facing BI, translate complex multi-system data into something usable, and help shape how reporting and analytics evolves as the function matures.
Power BI is the main tool. SQL is non-negotiable. Stakeholders are everywhere. Clarity is what gets you trusted.
What you’ll be doing
• Build and own Power BI dashboards used across the business and by customers
• Turn operational data into clear, actionable insights
• Work across multiple systems that do not always align cleanly (they rarely do)
• Support ETL processes and data flows in a growing modern stack
• Partner with stakeholders to translate vague requests into useful outputs
• Help improve reporting, integrations, and data quality across the business
• Pick up ad hoc analytics work because real environments do not run on fixed report lists
• Work across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and enterprise systems
What this suits
• Strong Power BI capability (you have built production-grade dashboards, not just prototypes)
• Solid SQL skills (joins, filters and logic do not slow you down)
• Experience working across multiple data sources and systems
• Someone who can translate technical output into plain English
• A builder mindset you improve things, not just maintain them
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and shifting priorities
Nice to have
• Microsoft Fabric exposure
• ServiceNow or CRM integration experience
• ETL or data pipeline experience
• Interest in AI, automation or modern data tooling
What’s in it for you
• A true growth role, not a maintenance seat
• High visibility with senior stakeholders
• Small, capable data team inside a large organisation
• Real influence on how reporting and data capability evolves
• Exposure to a modernising stack and future AI initiatives
• North-west suburbs base, hybrid flexibility, free parking
