We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer who is eager to explore the realm of data to join a pioneering digital enterprise company in Melbourne. You will play a pivotal role in optimising data platform engineering and architecture designing and building data products whilst providing mentorship on Software Engineering best practices.
  
As a Senior Software Engineer in this team, you will contribute to the advancement of the data platform, which utilises cutting-edge technologies including Snowflake, Kafka, Airflow, DBT, and Python. As data applications expand, your role will entail collaborating closely with specialised internal tech teams such as platform engineering and security to ensure ongoing enhancements and optimisation.
  
What You Can Expect:
  

• Mentor team members on best practices in Software Engineering to foster professional growth and skill development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape and refine the data platform product roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Drive the design and implementation of robust ingestion and ETL/ELT processes for diverse data sources, including batch, micro-batch, and real-time data.
• Work closely with key stakeholders to identify and curate data products that effectively address both functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Lead the development of innovative data and analytical initiatives, prioritising agility and pragmatism to meet time, quality, and value objectives.

  
We are Looking For:
  

• Quick learner adept at building production data pipelines using frameworks like Airflow, Kafka, and Spark.
• Extensive programming expertise with a track record in end-to-end Software Engineering.
• Proficient in Python with a willingness to acquire proficiency in other languages like Scala.
• Experienced in AWS and infrastructure-as-code with a commitment to continuous upskilling.
• Previous involvement in data modelling as either a software engineer or data engineer, coupled with a working knowledge of SQL.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to anticipate and manage challenges, along with experience collaborating effectively in dynamic teams and working within agile and lean methodologies.
